Infrared Testing

Prolec has the ability to undertake onsite infrared testing.

Equipment is checked with a non-contact infrared camera for signs of abnormal temperature. Temperature rises (or temperature differences) can be a sign of loose connections, overload or impending equipment failure. Preventative maintenance can be programmed in at a convenient time (rather than a break down and potential loss of production).

The camera can also be used to find heat loss (failing lagging) on pipework.

Certificate of Periodic Verification - A Certificate of Periodic Verification is able to be provided on request.

The Standard AS/NZS 3760:2010 (In-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment) advises that "In-service testing is a necessary part of any safety program to help ensure the safety of persons using electrical equipment in the workplace. The standard specifies in-service inspection and testing protocols and criteria that satisfy these obligations, and provides a cost-effective approach to safety without jeopardizing personnel safety or involving excessive equipment downtime".

The frequency of these tests is not determined by the appliance, but by the environment in which it is used. Generally for Prolec clients, this testing comes under the 6 month rule for workshops, and once every 5 years for offices, depending upon frequency of use. We can help with deciding what needs testing and its re-test frequency.
